Alakazam

Alakazam (2024) is a trombone octet piece commissioned by the University of Arkansas Trombone Studio. Its form is inspired by electronic dance music, beginning with minor tonality, but a jarring surprise followed by a harmonically dense chorale breaks the rhythm until the original theme is recapitulated in the parallel major.
